Next Step Behavioral Houston (NSBH) believes the greatest success for our residents is the involvement of families in the healing process. Our agency understands this level of involvement and what it means to our families to be included in the treatment. As a family member, when you entrust us with the treatment and care of your love one, be assured that we are committed to providing the best service possible. Family therapy is the cornerstone of our treatment at NSBH. As stated in our vision statement, we are looking to be the best treatment facility that fosters Hope, Healing and Growth through the five C’s: Customer Service, Communication, Consistency, Commitment and Compassion.
Families are encouraged to participate in therapy on a weekly basis with the resident and their primary therapist. This can be accomplished in person, via video-conference or by phone conference.
Family Support Groups will also be provided to families. Next Step Behavioral Houston will host groups for families of residents monthly (1st Saturday of each month at 10:00am). The purpose of the supportive groups are for the following:
- Provide opportunities for families to connect with other families in a supportive environment.
- Families will have opportunities to interact, share and learn from one another.
- Families will be able to connect with the clinical and support staff member.
- Guidance, education and opportunities for questions/answers.
Next Step Behavioral Houston’s Family Support Group also serves to reinforce concepts and strategies addressed in family therapy as well as the contributions of outside support services such as NAMI. In this way, the group functions as an ongoing repository of experience, ideas, and support, shared between people who have faced or are dealing with similar challenges and triumphs in their loved one’s journey toward mental health and independence. Participation in this important part of your loved one’s therapy is a vital component to optimizing the impact of the treatment plan.
